Had low volume and tried most of the fixes on this page with no success and tried something different which finally fixed the issue. Go to settings....select Cellular....turn off Wi-Fi Calling. Believe it or not this long standing annoying problem is fixed on my phone. It seems that wi-fi calling inserts a volume drop for some reason which when off resolves the issue on my phone.

I Have the iPhone 6 128GB

My phone started having this problem today where I could not hear anyone

that was calling me or that I was calling it was super quiet and muffled. I could

hear them just fine on speaker phone or with a head set so I quickly realized the

problem was with the actual earpiece on the phone. I had never had this problem

before so I was worried my phone had met its end...

After reading this site and what everyone was saying I decided to inspect my

phone closer and used my fingernail to gently rub it across the ear piece, (if you're

like me your phone goes everywhere, in your pocket, on the ground, tables, chairs

purses... You name it, your phone has probably been there.) as I gently scratched

at the ear piece I noticed dirt or grime was coming out of the speaker onto the phone

I decided to grab a dry q-tip and rub the ear piece vigorously to which end the q-tip

was covered in "NASTY" I then took a little rubbing alcohol and held my phone face

down (screen toward the ground) as to not get it in my phone and lightly got some on

the q-tip I then lightly rubbed the q-tip across the earpiece and to my surprise, my

phone works perfectly now, with out having to have it on hearing aid mode.

P.S. My boyfriends phone had also been doing this for months and he just dealt with it

and used speaker phone. I decided to do the same thing to his phone and it now

works perfectly as well!

Hope this helps!! Crossing my fingers for you!

I Do not take any responsibility for your phone if damage occurs during this process. Use caution

when following these steps.

IF you still have this problem (I just encountered it randomly with my 6s), place your mouth over the ear piece then suck hard and blow hard with mouth covering. I know it sounds ridiculous (and probably looks it, too) but it's the only thing that worked for me. If you've had the problem since day 1 and it's not a refurbished phone, you may want to utilize the warranty replacement option.

Hello aghaffar16,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

It is my understanding you are experiencing low volume from your iPhone while using an headphone. This is certainly not expected behavior.

It looks like you have already performed some good troubleshooting. The next thing I would do is try another headphone and see if the results are the same. As obvious as it sounds, be sure that the headphone is plugged all the way in to the iPhone. Be sure to turn the volume up while you are actually on a call. When not on a call, the volume controls music, alerts and other sounds from the iPhone, but not the call volume.

More information about what to do if having trouble hearing a call can be found here:

If you can‘t hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound isn‘t clear on your iPhone

Cheers!

Hello!

I had this problem when purchasing a second hand iphone 5s.

The screen cover that was on the screen was blocking the voice speaker. I solved the problem by removing the screen cover and replacing it with one that has an opening for the speaker. Make sure the speaker is not obstructed by anything. Try cleaning with a Q-tip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol. There could be grime present. This may solve your problem. Otherwise, it is possible that your speaker is defective and may be best to bring in to the apple store or repair shop for assessment. Good luck!

Shutter volume is tied to media volume. If you have previously listened to any video at a reduced volume level your shutter volume will also be at that reduced level. If you are on iOS 10 slide up from the bottom of you home screen and adjust the slider volume to the right to restore the shutter volume to its loudest level.

I have the low volume issue and I read many forums with lots of answers.

So I will compile the solution(s) here:

1) General --> Accessibility --> Hearing Devices --> Hearing Aid Mode (ON)

2) if u do not use the above option, make sure the step before, aka General --> Accessibility -->Phone Noise Cancellation (OFF)

3) General --> Music --> Volume Limit (OFF)

4) this one works particularly for me... use a wet tissue(best to be damp, if not alcohol wipes), wrap around something not too sharp, something like the tip of a pen(not exactly asking you to use a pen). phone face down and use the tip of the "pen" wrapped with the wet tissue to clean the earphones of the iphone. Solved.

I was able to fix mine by cleaning the headset port. Mine was full of lint creating an electrical short, and sound/power was being redirected from the earpiece to that port. Once cleaned it was loud and clear once again.

I tried every other suggestion I could find, even updated the OS, and this (cleaning) was the only thing that worked.
