Q: Restore from multiple backup dates?

I have some lost text messages and photos that I want to recover.  Problem is, I do not know which restore point they were backed up on.  My question is, can I reset my phone and do a restore from an OLD backup (lets say from a year ago)... and get whats on that restore, sync, save, etc. Then do the same thing again from another restore point (say 6 months ago)... and do it again and again until I get all the way back to the most recent one from today and get my phone back exactly how it is today?  But in the process of doing the multiple restores, I saved pictures and texts (screenshot them) to my computer?

I am just curious if once you do a restore from an old backup, do you even have the option to yet once again restore from a newer backup?

If I understand, you should be able to restore from an old backup and then save the photos to your computer using:

Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then you can repeat the process as many times as you like.  The computer will then have all the photos, but your phone will only have the photos restored from your most recent backup.  Backup is an all or nothing process.  All previous information is deleted from your phone when it is restored from a backup.

As far as the text messages (without a third tool - if it is even at all possible), I'm not sure how you can save any intermediary messages.

Thank you, this is basically exactly what I was asking and answered my question.  my main concern was, if i restored to an old backup, would the "new" backups still be there? Would I be able to continue to do this restore as many times as I want?  I was afraid once I restored from an old backup, all the new ones would no longer be an option and I would be stuck in this old backup.  I want to save everything like you mentioned, and ultimately restore back to the newest backup when I am done.

as for the text messages, my plan is to just find the ones I want/need and do screenshots of them and save them to the computer.

The newer one should still be an option, but I would stop backing up to iCloud until you have restored from the newer backup.
