integrated graphics NOT disabled as expected in bootcamp on MBP

i've upgraded my macbook pro (early 2011) to a dual ssd setup.

note: i was running windows 10 bootcamp without problems before (upgraded from a windows 7 bootcamp install)

i had a really tough time, but finally managed to do a CLEAN install of windows 10 from usb ( ! for the lack of the optical drive - i used a mac mini to create the image since bootcamp on my model macbook pro does not support that... or windows 10 in general, but as i said it did run without flaws).

have osx on one drive (no issues there), windows 10 on the other.

...almost:

it seems the system "forgot" to disable/hide the integrated intel graphics chipset, it now shows up along with the dedicated radeon in device manager.

i'd actually need to use the radeon, but it's driver is constantly stopped with error code 43, i'm suspecting because the integrated gpu is interfering. i'm basing this guess on the fact that i've tried multiple versions of the ati/amd drivers - many of which DID work in my original w10 bootcamp setup.

so how could i get my mbp to a state where the integrated intel chipset is gone/forgotten/hidden like it should be? (i tried the obvious ones: disabling/uninstalling the device from device manager, but it creeps right back after restart), my best guess is i'd need to poke the uefi/bios emulation, but am unsusre how to do that.

getting desperate, any ideas welcome, thanks in advance!

I have an iMac it use the same components are MacBooks really

the intel chipset always shown up in windows

the intel "gpu" is integrated into the northbridge of the intel chipset not sure if it can ever be truly turned off

and it does not use power when not used

been like that for me with win7 64bit, win8, win8.1 and now win10

ok, it worked.. (i'm pretty sure my times for swapping drives around in the mbp are close to the world record by now:-)

there was one last detail, had hold the option key while booting from the win 10 install cd, since it could boot in both efi and mbr mode, and does so in efi by default.

reinstalled windows 10 in mbr mode, and all is as in good oldd times: only the radeon is visible!

thanks, lonert!
