internet restore on iMac fails

Question

What I need to do on my iMac is do an internet restore to get back to the original OS for the iMac. I rebooted with command-option-R keys and got into internet restore mode. It got to the point of giving me choice of wifi networks and I successfully authenticated to a wifi network. Then, after a few minutes, I was presented with graphic of circle with line through it. Looks like internet restore had failed. Am I missing something? Do I need to prepare my Mac in some way in order for Internet Restore to work?

From your Recovery Partition run Disk Utility &gt; First Aid, and tell us what it reports.Also, some further specs on your Mac would help. What year is your Mac and what system are you running?

OK, I ran First Aid in Recovery Mode. Not able to capture all the output because I was in recovery mode. That is the prohibitory symbolAbout the screens you see when your Mac starts up - Apple SupportThis generally means that it is not finding an OS to boot up from. You might try it hard wired to the internet rather than Wi-Fi

Yes, seems it couldn&#x27;t find system folder to start up from. Seems like that is a Recovery Mode error or bug. I certainly do have a local valid system folder. I did try hard wired network and that fails too.
