Someone erased by mistake a huge folder on my external hard disk with all the media from 14 schools we've filmed. the files inside were MTS files.
Does someone know how I could recovered these files?

It is not likely.
You can buy data recovery software and attempt to run it but recovery of media files is unreliable. Data recovery requires an external drive to which the files can be written. If you have been writing to the drive that the file was deleted from, your chances of recovery are quite slim.
search the web for data recovery apps specifically for the Mac and see what the reviewers have to say about operations on media. We use Presort tools for photos and data files but media simply does not come back very well.
