Q: RAM for iBook G3 M6497
I bought a iBook G3 M6497. It is going to come with 192MBs of Memory. I'm going to put Mac OS 9 and OS X on it. What version of OS X would you recommend at 192MBs, and what would you recommend with it maxed out?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_X_Tiger#System_requirements OSX 10.4 (which was a very good version) requires 256 MB minimum. But remember when Apple says minimum they really mean it. Minimum means the computer will boot and probably have no RAM left to actually run anything except a basic text editor. Always think at least double minimum. For 10.3 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_X_Panther says 128 MB minimum but recommends 512 MB minimum.
10.3 system requirements upgrading to and beyond
I think Tiger is kind of ideal (I was using it until last January) but remember there may be other limitations such as processor speed to what your computer can run.
