Can Iphone SE a1723 unlocked phone be used in India?

2 days back, I went to a nearby apple store in naperville and asked for a gsm unlocked iphone se. I was about to return back to India and I wanted to use it there. Going through this (www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/#iphone-se), I came to know that India is listed under model A1723. Initially, they handed over AT&T unlocked model a1662. I told them about this whole lte thing. Later, they gave me a Iphone se a1723 model with a sprint sim inside. They said I could remove that sim and insert any sim I want.

I want to know, is this actually an unlocked phone? Can I just remove this sprint sim and use my india sim and start using it? Some people said Sprint is CDMA.

I am all confused. Please help.

iPhone SE, iOS 9.3.2, iphone se

Hello there, sanjay4414!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It looks like you are wanting to be sure your iPhone SE (A1723) that you purchased unlocked from the Apple Retail Store will work in India. I know how important it is to be sure the iPhone works in other countries. To answer your question, yes. Based on the website link you have (Ultrafast LTE) It looks like the phone model you have is compatible with these carriers in India: Airtel and Vodafone.

As for the unlock status if the phone, if you purchased an unlocked phone, it will not be locked to a carrier. The best option to check is going to be to contact Sprint directly and have them check the IMEI for you.

Cheers!
