Q: My iMac has lost connection with my iCloud

My iCloud folder in the finder left column window no longer shows anything.

How can I reconnect it with iCloud.

I have already switched of iCloud sync and switched it back on with an overnight waiting time but no result.

Please advise

Thank you

iMac with Retina 5K display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.2)

Are you referring to iCloud Drive?  If not, I do not understand your question.

So I assume you see "iCloud Drive" on the left side of Finder, yet the folder has no contents.

If so, check System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud Drive.  Make sure it is checked, and all its options are checked as well.

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes in the finder in the left column there is a cloud symbol which when clicked shows all the folders on the iCloud drive.

I have already done this: check System Preferences > iCloud > iCloud Drive.  Make sure it is checked, and all its options are checked as well.

Also, I have logged out of iCloud drive, left the computer shut down over night, rebooted the computer in the morning. Then opened system preferences and reconnected following all directions to sign in.

Still nothing shows in the iCloud drive in finder.

Not sure what to do next.

    Any ideas?

I suggest using Safari to log on to http://www.icloud.com.  Click "iCloud Drive" from that display.  Does anything appear?

    Here is what I see;

If you don't see anything there, perhaps you don't have anything in iCloud Drive.

    One more thought:

    See this article:

Set up iCloud Drive on all of your devices - Apple Support

As it suggests you must be running the latest versions of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.

Pages is currently at version 5.6.2.  Numbers is at 3.6.2.  Keynote is 6.6.2.

I have all my folders intact on iCloud Drive. Nothing appears to be missing.Screen Shot 2016-07-07 at 9.46.51 AM.png

I can access it easily through Safari and fortunately have been able to download those files I have needed since this problem began.

But nothing shows up in the finder iCloud Drive

    Yes I checked that too.

    All apps are latest versions.

I was playing around with the finder and clicked to different view (Normally I'm on columns) and this showed up with a revolving B/W wheel.

It's been spinning now for two hours so maybe I just have to wait for everything to settle down.

Just one point one of my folders won't open in Safari iCloud. I get this:

I have been trying now for over two hours and I still can't access this folder. It has some docs I need so I anxious to open it.

    Thanks for your help.

It looks like you have a lot of data on iCloud Drive.  There are size restrictions.  See "What types of files can I store in iCloud Drive?" here:

Yes a lot of files but all well within the limit and I have lots of available space.

I think there must be something not quite connecting properly but I don't have any idea how to fix it. I've tried everything I know and no-one else seems to have this problem.

I've checked for viruses and I believe I'm clean.

I have a similar issue.  I can access my iCloud Drive files from iOS or a web browser, but not from the finder.  Unchecking and rechecking iCloud Drive in iCloud preferences will actually show the folders where the files are located, but ultimately I can't access them, download them, open them.  I have tried setting up a new user to see if it is a pan-mac issue or a user-local issue, and it's a pan-mac issue.  I really don't want to spend a day reinstalling my OS, so I'd love if we can find an answer to this.
