I like to know whether apple will provide new update for pages 09 in the near future.

Please give information about this. Pages 09 is already dead or not?

Pages '09 still works with only minor caveats in all versions of OSX from 10.4.8 up to and including 10.11.05.

How long it will continue to work is up to Apple.

What led you to believe that there is a new update for Pages '09?

The last update for Pages '09 was in December 2012, and this added autosave, and revert to capabilities as Pages '09 v4.3. Apple retired the application, and stopped selling it just prior to the release of Pages v5 in Oct 2013.

It remains for sale through Amazon and Ebay resellers as the iWork '09 DVD. The DVD install by itself will not run on El Capitan without installing its last Apple iWork 9.3 updater. This updater is only for the iWork '09 DVD installed applications.

    I have Pages '09 v4.3 running here on OS X 10.11.5.

Because I still cannot believe Apple abandoned this great software only for mobile device users.

I already have LO and NeoOffice but sometimes check new update for pages 09.

    Not going to happen.

Apple is just waiting till nobody can remember that Pages was ever any better, then they will remove all support for Pages '09 and continue with very minor changes to Pages 5 as they have been.

As it is most users don't know that there ever was anything else and have very little idea about what constitutes productive or professional work.

We haven't heard from those posters who swore they 10,000% "knew" that Apple would replace the missing 100+ features and fix the numerous bugs and UI problems in Pages 5. So the collective memory is well on the way to being erased, along with all the posts detailing the long list of problems in these forums.

Hi, Peter. Thanks for clarifying this.  Apple support didn't seem aware of the previous existence of "left and right pages are different", a layout section configuration feature I routinely use and without which Pages is relatively useless to me.  Following a link from Carolyn's post indicated this: About the new iWork for Mac: Features and compatibility - Apple Support which makes no mention of this feature's reintroduction.

Hi, VikingOSX.  I tried to upgrade my OS a year or two ago from Mavericks and a large mess resulted, pertinence here that I was caught by surprise with changes to Pages, among which was an inability to open '09 files.  I reverted back to Mavericks 10.9.5.  Now my OS is getting significantly out of date.  I use features in '09 (4.3) that the newest Pages doesn't "support".  I have a late 2009 Macbook Pro 8 GB 1 TB.  I believe Pages was originally bundled with the machine.  Do you have full functionality of Pages 4.3 in 10.11.5, and if so, how can I install the latest OS and retain 4.3?  I'm a little skittish due to my previous experience.  Thanks.

Just upgrade to the latest OSX. I have.

If you had Pages '09 v4.3 it will still be there and still work. Just don't wipe your hard drive clean.

    Hi Peter,

Can you confirm that Pages 4.3 (and Keynote 5.3 for that matter) work in Mac OS Sierra?  Unfortunately, none of my existing documents will display correctly with the newest versions, so I'm still running these from iWork 09.

    Thanks.

Okay, thanks, I'll give it a try after I back up everything.
