Q: Airport Express Connection issues with iPhone6

My wife and I just purchased the iPhone6 and have been having a heck of a time getting connected to the Airport Express (we have no issues connecting to any other Wi-Fi connections).  At one point I was on and since Sunday can't get access.  While my wife had issues getting connected Friday, but Saturday was able to finally get on.  She still has access to it, while I don't.  I can see the airport express as a "Set up New Airport Base Station" but when I click on it.  I get a message stating the airport cannot be set up by this software. Go to apple.com.....  I went to apple.com and couldn't find an answer.  So now I am here.  Just a note.  Not sure if an older Airport Express (nearly 10 years old) would have anything to do with it.  I don't have any issues connecting any of my other devices to this wi-fi.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Todd

What is the exact model number of your AirPort Express? If it is either A1084 or A1088, it is an older 802.11g model. Being 10 years old, this may be the case. If it is, this model cannot be administered with the AirPort Utility on an iOS device. However, you should still be able to access it from an iOS device for network/Internet access.

You would need version 5.x of the AirPort Utility that would run on either a Windows XP or 7 PC or a Mac running OS X Lion or earlier to actually administer the base station.

    Total agreement with Tesserax.

I went through a similar situation. Replacing the old AE did the trick.

One question to your response.  My wife and I both each have the Iphone 6 (purchased them at the same time late June 2016) and she is able to access the Airport Express.  But for some reason my phone can't, but it can see the Airport Express, but it doesn't connect to it.  Not sure why one can access and the other Iphone can not?

At least two reasons come to mind:

    1. The problematic iPhone is not configured properly, or
    2. The problematic Wi-Fi is defective ... especially if it cannot connect to any Wi-Fi network.

For the first item, here are some references that, hopefully, can help:
