Q: Server Mail Forwarding not working

Hi all,

 

I've been experiencing this problem since January, with no resolution from Apple Enterprise Support. :-(

 

Hoping someone here has an answer.

 

We're using OSX 10.11.15 El Capitan, with the latest version of OSX Server. I set up all the users and groups from scratch this last Saturday. When mail is being accepted to a normal IMAP inbox it works fine. However, we have four addresses which are vanity email addresses, which get forwarded on to another user's inbox.

 

When setting those up, I create a normal user with OSX Server. For example, I created a user (Full Name: info_email, Account Name: info, Email address: info@xxxxxxxxxx.com.) I then right click on the newly created user and select "Edit Mail Options." The default setting is "Mail should be stored locally." I change it to "forwarded" which gives me a box to enter in the true destination email address(es).  The address I enter is an email account which IS stored locally.

 

Sending an email to info@xxxxxxxxxx.com should end up in the mt@xxxxxxxxxx.com inbox. However, it gets rejected. The resulting error message is:

What is maddening is that if I forward it to my work account tech@xxxxxxxxxx.com the forwarding order works just fine! Mind you this is a freshly set up server just this last weekend.

 

Anybody else experience this? If so, were you able to resolve it?
