Q: Swollen battery will Apple replace for free?

i have an iPhone 5s that's about 2 years old now and the screen has been lifting up in the past few days. After doing research I've decided it's most likely a swollen battery, some sites said Apple would replace the phone for free does anyone know if this is true?

Nobody here speaks for Apple. You need to take it in to Apple, let them check it out, and they will tell you what they can do for you to fix it.

I had the same thing happen to my 5s, and didn't know it.

The phone just suddenly refused to hold a charge. I brought it into Apple and the tech said she could see that the battery had started to swell - the edge of the phone had a slight bulge. The 5s was replaced with an entirely NEW 5s for $79.95 (plus sales tax). I decided to do the replacement since the old phone had NO trade-in value and wouldn't hold more than a 29% charge (even though the indicator on the front showed 100% charged).

BTW - I was told the battery does tend to swell when it's at the end of its usable life. However, that will be hasted quickly if a non-Apple approved charging chord is used, since they tend to totally mess up the battery and plug-in port.
