iPhone Backup does not save Temple run 2 Progress

On my older phone, the iPhone 6, have played Temple Run 2 a lot and amassed some good points & other "collectibles"

Recently got an iPhone 6S and used iTunes to Backup Old phone and then Restore the backup onto the New phone.

Alas, once the backup was done, the Temple Run 2 app showed up as "waiting" on the new iPhone and then proceeded to download it off the AppStore/iCloud

Now I do not have the game progress on the new iPhone! Any ideas how can I get the game progress available on the new iPhone?

iOS 9 had some App Thinning feature so I could not even do the "Transfer Purchases" to iTunes and then install the transferred app on the new iPhone

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.3.2

Are you sure that the app progress is stored in the backup? I believe that there are some games that have their own servers for storing progress and some games that just don't store progress in backups. Have you tried contacting the developer?

As for not transferring apps in iTunes, make sure that you turn on automatic downloads in the iTunes preferences for apps so that any app you download on the phone is also downloaded in iTunes.

Yes, Automatic downloads is Turned On in the iPhone settings under iTunes

After upgrading to the latest iTunes version on my windows laptop, I cleared off all the older apps there as they were not updated in ages. the iPhone had all the latest updates so I connected my phone and did the "transfer purchases" thingy, but no app from the iPhone came onto the iTunes library!

Regarding the Temple Run 2, the update that was released sometime back had the "iCloud Backup" feature added in I remember - implying the progress made on one device can be seen/resumed on another device, as long as both are signed in using the same iCloud ID

I did drop an email to the Developer but no response yet. Dropped a Q in these forums hoping someone might have faced the same issue & can advise accordingly.

I'm talking about iTunes on your computer. Turn on Automatic Downloads for apps in iTunes. That way when you download an app on the phone, it will download into iTunes on your computer as well.

I Don't know anything about this particular game and you could very well be correct that it does backup the progress. If you backup regularly using iCloud as well, did you try restoring that backup? Do you have an iPad or another iOS device signed into the same ID where you can check game progress on that?

Well, I don't backup to iCloud on the phone but to my Computer

For this particular Game, I could not find any explicit setting for iCloud Backup (either in the game's settings or the iPhone's iCloud > Manage Storage)

Initially I thought that once I took a backup on my computer using iTunes, this backup would contain the game's progress as well.

But as I said abovem when I restored the new phone with that backup, the game was firstly not at all installed on the new iPhone but I had to install from the App Store again and secondly after I installed it and logged in with my Apple ID, the progress was not synced at all

The app developer, Imangi Studios, added cloud support back in 2014 for this game. From reading around on various external forums, both for android and iOS, it seems people have struggled with the use of this new cloud support, but it is actually in place. If you are struggling further with the use of this for your saves, I suggest contacting the developer as Demo was suggesting.
