Wireless keyboard stops working but is still connected?

I'm having a problem where my wireless keyboard stops working but is still connected. It resolves itself if I restart my Mac (and continues to work for a few hours) but then it will stop working again. It still shows it is connected to the Mac even with it stops working.

I thought the keyboard needed to be replaced, so I got a new Magic Keyboard but I'm having the exact same problem with the brand new keyboard.

Is there a more permanent solution to this problem than having to restart my computer every time?

Magic Keyboard-OTHER, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), null

Hello BGriggs1294!

From what you've posted, I'd definitely want to have my keyboard working with my Mac computer, too. There's a few things to check.

If you haven't, go through the tips in this article to make sure everything is setup and interference free: Using a Bluetooth mouse, keyboard, or trackpad with your Mac - Apple Support

After that, you can try out the keyboard in safe mode to see if it happens there, too: Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support

And you can try a new user on the computer: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support

Reply back with the results if the keyboard still disconnects after those.

Regards.
