Q: Macbook Freezes with Purple/yellow lines on the screen
Hello,
I have an issue with my Macbook Pro. Hard to describe so please view the image below.
This is happening without any reason and once it does so the Fan kicks in crazy and the temp rises, then i cant switch the MBP back on until its cooled down, however some times it still doesn't come back on as the lights on the front of the MBP flash three times. It also seems to struggle to go into sleep mode, so if its does appear to be working, i can close the lid, expecting to find it in sleep, but the BP is boiling.
Just to add, i have found that if i pick up the macbook holding the base to the left hand side that this triggers the lines, so thinking its just the motherboard in that position and close to the power port then this could be the problem? and then its result in it randomly restarting it self, sometimes loads to login window other times it loads the grey screen saying it hasnt been shut down correctly
As you can probably imagine its driving me crazy.
So here are some further details,
Its a MBP 2013 model running 10.11.5 on a 500gb SSD with 8gb RAM.
Troubleshooting steps, one of have made a difference:
- replaced memory
- replace battery
- reinstalled osx
- replaced ssd, reinstalled osx
- installed apps to show temperature and fan speed, nothing shows anything too hot
- i have installed an app called cleanmemory, that shows on average at bootup or idle that the MBP is using 5.7gb or 8gb
- i have boosted the fan up to 4500rpm, MBP still seems to overheat
Any ideas of suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thank you
MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), null
