Anonymous files getting created on My Hard Drive?

I am using MacBook Air 2013 model running Yosemite 10.10.5. I am using 1 TB Seagate Backup Plus External Hard Drive which is in NTFS format. I am using Paragon for Mac OS X dowloaded from website to read and write files from the hard drive. Sometimes in some folders when I poen it gets and stuck and creates anonymous files and I can't delete them. I am not sure why this is happening. And also I cannot remove some folders. When I try from terminal it says "It is not an empty directory.

Should I be concerned?

How can I remove these files completely?

Thank You. 🙂 🙂

You should be concerned if the disk fails to save the files & you have no other copies of the files on other disks. You will eventually lose data if you only have one copy. Be aware that the disk could simply be failing too - they do not last forever. I'd suggest you check on Paragon's site to see if your NTFS driver is up to date too.

As John Galt is suggesting, avoid using NTFS unless you must write to it on Mac & PC. Otherwise consider getting another disk formatted as NTFS & use that as a test - if that also has the same issues you know that Paragon's software is not working well on your Mac.

Writing to NTFS disk is not supported by the OS on Macs, so you are depending on the third party software to work 100% of the time. Frankly exFAT or plain FAT may be a better format if you can use that on a Mac & PC/ Linux but those have other limitations. NTFS doesn't support all the features that OS X uses in a filesystem, so the driver has to workaround the differences.

The safest option is to use Journaled HFS Plus disk format (a.k.a Mac OS Extended) on OS X for external disks.
