Show WiFi password in OS X El Capitan

Is there a way to get my network selection to display my wifi password which automatically signs on but I have stupidly forgotten?

~/Applications/Utilities/keychain Access.app

You can see it in the keychain. Search for the network by name

Open Keychain Access located in /Applications/Utilities

Then select Passwords on the left.

Then type in the name of your Wi-Fi network in the search field top right corner of the Keychain Access window.

Then right or control click that keychain then click Get Info then make sure the Attributes tab is selected then click Show Password. You may be prompted for your admin password to reveal the Wi-Fi password.

I occasionally fall in the same situation.

In the case, I use KeyChain Access utility ( inside Applications>Utilities ).

  1. Look for the passwords entry for the Wi-Fi SSID. ( you can use the keyword "network" for search field to narrow down the entries )
  2. Double click the entry ( or click [i] button on bottom ).
  3. Click on the check box on the left of "Show password" on the Attribute pane of the dialog.
  4. Enter the login keychain password if you are asked for it.
  5. The password should be shown in the text box on the right of "Show password" text.

Hoping this works for you too.
