Microphone not working on Apple Watch

Hello,

The microphone on my Apple Watch Sport is not working. Siri doesn't respond when activated manually, no dictation, and the other party on a phone call cannot hear me.

Using iPhone 6 plus with latest iOS 9 release.

No physical damage, or water immersion. Watch looks like new even though it's worn every day.

I have done the following.

Restarted both iPhone and watch.

Force restarted both.

Unpaired and re-paired the Apple Watch from the phone.

(Of course my one year warranty ended one week ago)

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi my friend!

I am also with this same issue! But there is a curious thing that i have realized.

Actually, the microphone of my apple watch series 2 is working. How did I get this conclusion? I tried discover a song with the shazam for Apple Watch and "EUREKA", the watch was able listening to the song.

So I realized that my microphone is not working with: Siri, Dictation and phone calls. But for Shazam it is ok. Because that I think that can be a software problem and not hardware.

Hi

Shazam does not use the microphone on Apple Watch:

Hi Mike

It may help to clean your watch, paying particular attention to the microphone port (the lower of the two ports on the opposite side to the buttons), in case it has become blocked by debris.

Be sure to follow Apple's cleaning instructions (do not insert anything into the port and do not use any compressed air).

If the issue persists, I suggest that you quickly contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation to have your watch checked.

If your watch requires service, Apple may be able to assist (no-one here can advise what Apple will decide) or it may be eligible for chargeable, out-of-warranty service

Not sure if this applies ...

  • On your paired iPhone, tap Settings > General > Siri and make sure that Siri is on.
  • On your Apple Watch, tap Settings > General > Siri and make sure that Hey Siri is on.

You also need to connect your Apple Watch or paired iPhone to the Internet using Wi-Fi or cellular data.*

I was having the same issue. I rebooted and reset to no results.. was screaming into the watch to see if it heard me at all... I finally just took a needle and lightly prodded around the microphone hole. Seemed like only a speck of lint came out but it was enough to block the mic I guess because the watch hears me loud and clear now.
