Epson Printer Driver Does Not Show Up in Printer & Scanner Window

OS 10.11.5 I've downloaded the most recent driver for my Epson Printer, the Artisan 50. I've run the installer and it appears that the install was successful. But when I do to System Preferences -> Printers & Scanners and click the + sign to add the new printer it does not show up in the 'Add' list. How ca I add the driver to my Printers & Scanners preferences?

OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

You do not add a printer driver to Printers and Scanners. You add the printer itself.

The Epson Artisan 50 is not an AirPrint capable printer, as documented here:

About AirPrint - Apple Support

(I have an Epson printer that is an AirPrint capable printer, and it works just fine with OS X 10.11.5.)

The Artisan 50 does appear to have printer (but not scanner) software in the Apple driver:

Printer and scanner software available for download for your Mac - Apple Support

Therefore, follow the instructions here:

OS X El Capitan: Add or remove a printer
