Q: Cannot pair BT keyboard after batteries replacement!

Been using that keyboard for over a year without a single issue. Nor that I just replaced batteries, it won't pair anymore. Ridiculous! Seen BT devices for half that price with never experiencing a single issue !

''Pairing attemps was unsuccesful''

If I press the on/oof button on the right of keyboard, it blinks and keep blinking 2 rapid blinks for about 30 seconds.

Is there a solution to this ?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3), i7, 8GB memory

When your Apple wireless keyboard, mouse, or trackpad is turned on, the indicator light flashes twice in succession, pauses, and then repeats (blink-blink-pause, blink-blink-pause). This means the keyboard, mouse, or trackpad is “discoverable” by your Mac, and you can pair your Mac with it. After three minutes, the indicator light turns off. The keyboard, mouse, or trackpad is still on, but it is no longer discoverable. To make it discoverable again, turn it off, then turn it back on.

When the wireless keyboard, mouse, or trackpad connects with your Mac, the indicator light illuminates steadily for 3 seconds before it turns off. This indicates that the device has successfully paired with your Mac.

While your Apple Magic Mouse is connected to your Mac, the indicator light blinks at a regular interval. It might blink fast or slow, but in all cases, a regular blinking pattern means the mouse is connected to your Mac and is operating properly. If you use an Apple wireless Mighty Mouse, the indicator light illuminates continuously when it is connected to your Mac and working properly. The indicator light on the Apple wireless keyboard doesn’t blink.

    Carolyn,

Thanks for your reply, I get your point. Glad to see it is ''discoverable'', but here's what happen :

the browse device window show the keyboard name. Then it keeps loopong on 3 messages :

    - searching for devices. 1 found.

    - connecting to the device

    - there was an error connecting to the device

Until it keeps looping between the last 2 lines above...

No way it seems it will resolve ...

Ok... Now I was able to pair it with another system (Macbook Pro) without a single issue, with pairing code appearing immediately, and so on...

So now I guess it has something to do with the bluetooth on the other computer... Just noticed indeed that there are some greyed out items in the menu and I cannot even turn the bluetooth off...  Will need to dig into that now...

    Thanks !

Try resetting the SMC on the "offending" computer.
