Q: iPhone 6s Plus Sync to Car No Voice Navigation

When I sync (through bluetooth or through the USB cable) my iPhone 6s Plus to my 2016 Prius C, and then ask Siri for navigation directions, the navigation works, but she will not call out the directions like she does when not synced to the car. Any advice? Thanks.

    Hello there, millerteachglobal!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having an issue with your iPhone and connecting with Carplay. I know how important it is to be able to use Navigation and Maps as well. I would start by checking out this article with steps about how to Use Maps and Bluetooth on your iPhone or iPad. Specifically:

    Navigation Voice

When your iPhone or iPad is connected with a Bluetooth accessory in a vehicle, you might hear music playing through your vehicle speakers. But Maps audio might be playing through your iPhone speaker. To access and manage Navigation Voice options, follow these steps:

    1. Launch Maps on your iPhone or iPad to start turn-by-turn navigation. Learn more about using Maps
    2. Tap the Bluetooth icon in the bottom right corner of the app. You might need to tap the display once to show all options.
    3. In the Navigation Voice screen, you can change the volume and output options. If you select No Voice, your device will continue to show upcoming directions, but you won’t hear voice commands.

    Launch Maps

    Change volume

    Bluetooth, Maps, iPhone, iPad

Selecting the output will determine where turn-by-turn Navigation Voice will play. When you’re using Maps connected to a Bluetooth accessory, you can choose how to get these directions. You can turn your music down and hear through your car stereo speakers, or play music through speakers and turn-by-turn navigation on your iPhone or iPad.

If you select your iPhone or iPad as the audio output, your device will continue to playback audio (like music) through the Bluetooth accessory. And navigation Voice will playback through your iPhone or iPad speaker.

    Cheers and drive safely!
