Q: Apple Watch Battery Problems

I received my Apple Watch, 38 mm, Sport Edition yesterday, and have been loving it. However, I'm having some issues with the battery. Possibly I'm expecting too much, but the battery seems to drain rather quickly. Last night, while trying to use a sleep monitoring app, my Watch died within only 6 hours, when it had a 95% charge. Today, I did a test and set my watch aside for 20 minutes. I didn't turn it on, or even move it. Within 20 minutes it had already lost 4%. Is this how the battery usually is? Or I am dealing with an actual problem? Also, any fixes? Currently I'm rebooting both my phone and my watch. I'd hate to have to send it in and wait impatiently for another week. Thanks!

    Hi

Battery life varies depending on use and other factors.

Depending on your daily usage, it can be normal for your watch to require nightly charging.

In tests, for example, Apple achieved 18 hours of battery life with the following usage: 90 time checks, 90 notifications, 45 minutes of app use and a 30-minute workout with music playback from Apple Watch via Bluetooth. Other examples of battery life under different usage are available here:

    http://www.apple.com/watch/battery.html

If your watch is experiencing shorter battery life than Apple's examples suggest you should expect, try the following steps, which have helped to resolve battery life issues for some users:

For the best performance from your watch (including the most power-efficient communication between your devices), keep both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth permanently enabled on your iPhone.

If the sleep monitoring app that you used was Sleep++, note that - in order to preserve battery life whilst using the app - the developer has previously recommended enabling Airplane Mode on your watch overnight, whilst using the app.

Whilst this recommendation is no longer documented under the present version of the app, this may be an oversight.

You may wish to contact the developer to check: support@crossforward.com

Thanks for your help, however I have already tried all the solutions you mentioned. I am now repairing my watch for the 2nd time. I did notice something odd though. After having my watch on for about 4 hours with moderate use, I checked the battery usage to find that "standby" and "usage" were the same. Based on what I had used the watch for that day, I knew that that couldn't be right. Could that be contributing to the power drain?
