We would like to have Mac OS X ( eg. EI Capitan) running under Windows 7 as a Virtual Machine for teaching some of the Apple courses to our students. Is it possible ? AND if so, how to go about it ?

We are referring to Apple hardware only. But they are running Cent OS/Ubuntu , some flavour of Linux for the regular academic work. Is virtualisation possible/permitted under this ? Would appreciate a detailed response, if possible to save time on multiple iterations.

This is a user to user support forum. I'm afraid my knowledge is limited, but my understanding is that you are only permitted to run OS X on Apple hardware. If you start from a working Mac then you can install additional operating systems with boot camp or virtualization software. The license agreement for El Capitan says that you can only run it in a virtual machine on a Mac, and that said Mac has to be already running El Capitan. The host Mac cannot be running other OS X versions or different OSes.
