Q: How to reset Mac Book Pro to factory settings

I am starting school in the fall & I want a clean slate on my MacBook Pro..

I have had my Mac for 4/5 years.

I have already backed up documents, pictures, etc. that I wanted to save onto zip drives.

How do I reset my computer to wipe everything off & start fresh?

Restart with the Command and R keys held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the internal drive, and install a fresh OS. If your computer's OS is too old for this method, insert a compatible Mac OS X install disk or thumbdrive, restart with the Option key held down, click on it, and proceed as above.
