Q: Screen sharing and remote management mutually exclusive?
Hi all, I'm running an iMac with 10.11.4, remote management is enabled, "Allow access for" is set to "Only these users" where my local user account is the only one listed. Under "Options" for my user, I have all check boxes checked. The "Screen Sharing" check box at the same level as Remote Management states "Screen Sharing is currently being controlled by the Remote Management service."
From Apple Remote Desktop on my laptop, I'm able to add my desktop's IP and I can successfully connect to it and issue "unix" commands and get the output. If I try to observe or control, I'm informed that I need to enable screen sharing on the remote side before I can do that.
So.... anyone have a suggestion on how I can enable that given it seems like it should be part of remote management already, and the formal 'screen sharing' option can't be enabled simultaneously? I don't want to disable remote management because over low bandwidth connections, I like to be able to issue ssh/applescript commands remotely without doing full desktop control.
Could it be some issue with it not mapping my remote user to my local user in the 'allow access for' list? I assume that is not the case given I shouldn't be able to connect at all, let alone issue CLI commands.
