FWIW, you didn't say which iMac or which version of OSX but reinstalling OSX is the only way I know.
Sorry. This is the first time I'm asking a question. The version is OS 10.4.11. I'm going to the local Apple store and purchase the OS X. Is there a version you would recommend?
I just looked at the MN MK142LL/A
Thanks, Ray.
Do you mean it is missing from the dock? If so go to Applications folder under Go in the menubar and check that it is there and drag it back into the dock.
That's a new iMac. One you don't need to buy the OS. First you can't because it's free.
If you have an Apple ID you should be able to open the App Store and update to 10.11.5. That may replace LaunchPad.
We gave Grandma this iMac and she really did some bad things to it. I am trying to restore the sucker back to factory settings. I looked where you suggested and it is no where to be found.
It started with me trying to find the App store icon. I am using my MacBook to communicate with you and yes I do have an Apple ID.
You can just reinstall from Recovery Mode.
