In recharging the remote I am trying to find the cables that came with the purchase. and other extra cables that may have been included.

A lightening to USB cable should have been included. To recharge the remote, you can plug the USB into yoru computer (assuming it has sufficient power to charge it) or an Apple Adapter: http://help.apple.com/appletv/#/atvb7d4de50d
You may have a similar cable with an iPhone or iPad. Any lightning to USB cable will do.
Thank you. Do you recall is there is a cable included in the box for the servicing port on Apple TV too? We seemed to have misplaced the original box.
No, servicing is rarely required, if you ever need to restore the Apple TV you will need to buy one.
No, there is no cable for the servicing port (sold separately). You only need it to recover the software if it fails completely, or to load developer beta software. It's a USB-C to USB-A cable. Be sure to get one that supports USB 3.0 data, not just a "charging" cable.
