Is this a scam email or has my account been hacked?

Hi there,

I have received an email from'notify@investor.apple.***' with the subject 'Your Apple order receipt' and the email lists three apps and that £29.07 has been spent on it.

I need to check my bank account, but they are apps I don't have on any of my Apple products and I don't use an Ipod touch any more. Can anyone help to let me know it this is a phishing email or if someone has got into my account? 😟

Thanks

Almost certainly a scam. See these support resources:

Identifying fraudulent "phishing" email

Identifying legitimate emails from the iTunes Store

Phishing and Other Suspicious Emails

The last one includes information on forwarding the original message with headers to Apple at reportphishing@apple.com which, one hopes, they might use to take down fraudulent websites. It might help to send the occasional sample if you're prepared to take the time.

Other than that you could explore your options for filtering junk mail to cut down on the number of such messages you get to see.

As a point of principle never use a link in an email to access any website where you would sign in. Use existing bookmarks or the address bar in your browser instead.

In iTunes use Account > View My Account to review your recent purchase history, or see https://reportaproblem.apple.com/ to check it online.

Your email address is visible in the image posted so I'm going to ask the moderators to remove it.

You 'don't know how' what ? That, and similar phishing emails, are sent randomly, as long as you didn't go to their site and enter your id and password you should be ok (if you did, change your password via http://appleid.apple.com, and then : What to do after you change your Apple ID email address or password - Apple Support ; if you logged in and entered your card details also contact your card issuer). If you just clicked on the link in the email and went to their site (but didn't enter your id and password) then they might now know that the email address is active, so you might get further phishing emails (and possibly not just from 'iTunes').

I have had the exact same email even the amount is the same. If you look closely it doesn't come from Apple, but Apple TM if you click on the link (that sends you to a phoney Apple site) so as to have your money refunded within 14days then it will ask you for your bank details and sort code along with security info.!!!!!!! DONT DO THIS!!!!!!!

I am no banking expert but I don't think any money is going to go out of your account. If you input your bank and security details contact your bank AT ONCE.

This IS a scam.
