Q: My converted Photos library is 13 GB. The original iPhoto Library is 27 GB! Is something terribly wrong?

After adopting El Capitan, I migrated by iPhoto Library to the Photo app. The converted Photos library is 13 GB, but the original iPhoto Library is 27 GB!

 

I can't help but think something has gone terribly wrong and that I have lost either photos or the high-quality version of photos, or something.

 

Many thanks to anybody who can shed some light on the subject.
