Jul 8, 2016 4:42 PM in response to sesweitzerby Malignance,I asked the Host to move this post to iPhoto for Mac so you may get better help for your issue.

Jul 8, 2016 6:51 PM in response to Carolyn Samitby sesweitzer,Thanks. I have tried those suggestions. The article talks about an either/or situation but I fall in the middle. I see the phone and some of the images and can import them. The problem is that I only see less than a 1/10th of my pictures and the article doesn't address that.
Regards,
Steve

Unfortunately it is not an iPhoto for Mac question - it is a Photos for Mac question - I will request that it be moved to the correct forum

Jul 8, 2016 6:56 PM in response to sesweitzerby LarryHN,Are these photos all in the camera roll? What is the source for the missing photos? Taken with the iPhone? Synced with iTunes or other software? Have they been edited on the iPhone? Anything else you can tell us about them that is different?
And what version of the OS and of Photos do you have?

Jul 8, 2016 7:32 PM in response to LarryHNby sesweitzer,All photos on my phone are in Photos, my "Collections." There are 1,679. All of the photos were taken with the iPhone (many with the current iPhone 6 but some with 4 or 3). I'm connected to the computer through the UBS cable. I sync with iCloud. Some have been edited but not all of them. Most of the images that show up are recent but there are a few from 2011 and 2012.
I have the same experience with three Macs. The same thing happens in Photo, Image Capture and Lightroom.
Until recently, I would see all the images on my phone. Now I only see 150 images and all but 14 were taken since June 26th.
ISO 9.3.2 OSX 10.11.5 Photos 1.5 Image Capture 6.7 Lightroom CC and LR5
I can't see any pattern.

I sync with iCloud.
Are you using iCloud Photo Library - if so what devices is it enabled on? What is its status on each device using ICPL?

Jul 9, 2016 4:53 AM in response to LarryHNby sesweitzer,Yes.
It is on on my phone. I have iCloud Photo Library ON, Check by Optimize Photo Storage, Upload My Photo Stream ON, iCloud Photo Sharing ON.
On my computers I have iCloud Photo Library ON (Download originals to this Mac ON) and iCloud Photo Sharing ON.
I've done some looking around and see LOTS of recent posts on Adobe forums from people with the exact same issue. It worked as expected until recently (last couple months) and then the problem I mentioned appeared. Now I'm guessing this iPhone IOS bug.

Steve

Jul 9, 2016 6:23 AM in response to sesweitzerby léonie,Is iCloud Photo Library enabled on your iPhone with "Optimize Storage"? In that case most of the photos on your phone may not be in the camera roll but only in iCloud, and the Import panel will not show them. Only the photos in the Camera Roll can be imported to your computer by USB, but not the photos in iCloud. If you are using iCloud Photo Library on the device, use iCloud to transfer the photos. Importing by USB will only give random results.
You can download the iCloud photos directly from the web page www.icloud.com. Use the Photos, app there to select and download the new photos.

Jul 9, 2016 6:49 AM in response to léonieby sesweitzer,Thanks. Not using Optamize. i can see the photos in the iCloud part of Photos but not USB. I really want USB to work properly because Lightroom is my photo program of choice.

Make a test. Select one of the photos on your iPhone, that do not appear in the Photos Import panel, and try to edit it on the iPhone. Is that possible, or are getting an error message?
Does Image Capture show more photos in the Import panel than Photos?

Jul 9, 2016 8:29 AM in response to sesweitzerby LarryHN,You need to either use iCloud Photo Library to sync your libraries (then you can not use USB) or use USB - USB and ICPL are mutually exclusive
