Q: Can I select which playlists to sync with iTunes Match?

Does iTunes Match sync all playlists in a library or can I selectively sync only some playlists (e.g., excluding playlists my wife created)?

All playlists are synced - you can't select specific playlist with iTunes Match.

Hi,

Do you happen to gave any suggestion as to how I could potentially keep my playlists synced without having to download my wife's and kids' playlists too?

Organize each user's playlists into a separate folder. Then even though the others will show on your device you don't need to open up the folder, or download tracks you don't want to that device.
