Q: My USB internal 3.0 Bus and SD card reader have both quit working at the same time. Need help in restoring

On my Macbook Pro 13 inch Core I5 2.6 GHZ I have just noticed that my USB ports and the SD Card reader have stopped working. They USB 3.0 Bus and reader show up in the System Report information. I have tried resetting PRAM and SMC but no luck so far and my Time Machine Backup is on an SSD in a USB 3.0 disk drive case. Any ideas how to reset the USB 3.0 Bus and reader? I am including all system info in case it helps

    USB 3.0 Bus:

The only reset of all internal port configuration is a reboot of the machine.

If the USB bus is recognized in the System Profiler then you can suspect it is the device.

DO you have another USB device you can verify the port is working or not.  I suspect the cable or the external enclosure is at fault.

Try a different cable, try a different device or enclosure.

The SDcard reader I suspect is a coincidence.  Verify under >(option key) System info >Hardware>Card Reader

Once again if the Card Reader is being recognized by the System Profiler it is functioning.

If it is not being recognized it will say something like: "This computer doesn't contain any CardReader device"

then you know you have a hardware issue.

Sometime you have to insert the card at a bit of a different  and varying angle of attack to get it to take.

Also try a different card to verify.

You can try blowing out the SDcard slot for any debris.

Yes I have tried two external drives plus two thumb drives and a Blu Ray writer. Really strange but thankfully it is still under warranty if I can't figure it out
