Q: Randomly deleted messages for the second time out of no where

I have an iPhone 6 for the second time this week my messages have been deleted. I didnt do anything to my phone for this to happen. No updates, nothing. This has happened for the second in a week and this is seriously becoming an inconveince. My phone has been updated to the latest update. I've tried to turn it back on and off and reset it

to see if they would come back. No luck.

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.2

Welcome to Apple Support Communities, Amanda87000,

I use Messages on my iPhone 6 to keep in touch with long-distance family. Many of those I need to keep so I can certainly understand your distress about yours disappearing, so I'll be glad to help!

The first thing I'd like for you to check is how much storage is left on your iPhone 6. -- Check your storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If your iPhone's storage is almost full, that can explain why they're dropping from your phone. I recommend deleting unused apps and information you no longer use regularly from your phone and see if this helps. If not, continue on.

Since you've already tried two of the 3 R's when troubleshooting iOS devices, but restart and reset didn't help, the last one is Restore. Because Messages is part of the iOS, it may be that there was a problem with the latest update's installation. The first thing I'd like for you to do is back up your iPhone to save your personal data. -- How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Once you're confident your information is secure, I'd like to you restore your iPhone to factory settings. -- Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

The first time through select "Set up as new iPhone", sign into iTunes and iCloud, but don't use your backup to set up the phone. Once you've reached the home screen, activate Messages and test a few. You may want to test this over a bit of time, but if there isn't any and Messages seems to be working as it should, you can restore your backup. -- Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

    Have a fantastic day!
