Q: Apple TV Connection Problems with MacBook

I am current up to date on all software updates for my macbook, apple tv, and iTunes. I am having issues connecting my computer to apple tv. When I go to airplay the only option is off, it doesn't even recognize apple tv. Because of that issue I moved on to trying home sharing to play my iTunes videos on my apple tv. Home sharing is on for apple tv and my macbook and they're under the same account. When I go to home sharing on my apple tv it says to turn on home sharing in iTunes. It's already on but isn't recognizing it so I've turned it off then back on in iTunes and on my apple tv and have restarted both apple tv and my computer and nothing is working. Someone please help me!!
