all of a sudden my ipod 30 gb classic wont connect to my computer or a wall outlet. i've tried different cords. i've tried different USB ports on the computer.
i did a "select button"/"rewind button" diagnostic while plugged into the computer and it said the ipod's USB wasn't connected to anything.
i tried cleaning out the port of any debris with no luck.
the ipod works fine otherwise.
OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)
Does it still charge? Perhaps the connector has failed internally on one or more of the contacts that carry data. 😕

nope, wont take a charge either.
are replacement ports available?
edit: the ipod screen will wake up when the cord is unplugged from the unit. but not when inserted
I've no idea if servicing that component is feasible. I've replaced batteries and the headphone hold switch assembly. From this tear down it looks like the connector is soldered directly to the logic board.
