are replacement ports available?
edit: the ipod screen will wake up when the cord is unplugged from the unit. but not when inserted

Jul 9, 2016 7:50 AM in response to cranky-dby turingtest2,I've no idea if servicing that component is feasible. I've replaced batteries and the headphone hold switch assembly. From this tear down it looks like the connector is soldered directly to the logic board.
