Q: Does " All my files" contain same files that exist in other favourites? ( documents, downloads) ?

I am trying to move all my files from my MacbookPro to an external hard disk manually.  And when i look at the finder app, i can see " All my files" and then i see " Documents"  and " Downloads" .  And i am not sure if they are just a different way to see the same files or different files are located separaetly.

Example: If i save a text document to "Documents" , would the same exact document be visible for me in " All my files" view?  And if i move all the files in "All my files" would i have also moved the files in " Documents " and " Downloads" ?

Sorry for my English , it isnt my native language. I am also a Mac noob.

I am using OS El Captain

Appreciate your help on this . Thaks a lot.

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5), Finder

Yes. The All My Files "folder" is a Search Folder which shows you all of the documents in the user directory.

They are all in other folders somewhere in your Home folder.

You shouldn't be able to move anything into All My Files as it really isn't a folder.

If you move things into Documents, Downloads, Pictures, etc., they will show up in All My Files.
