Q: iPhone 6 Charging Issue (Cable Not Damaged)

My iPhone has been exhibiting some odd charging behavior lately.  I've had chargers break on me before, usually showing the "bubble" on the cord end, but this is different.  It's not finnicky when I plug it in, it just sometimes really won't charge at all.  If I shut it off or do a reset using the power and home keys, it will turn back on very slowly (sometimes freezing at the Apple symbol for 5+ minutes) and then I can plug it in and it will charge again.  I'm just concerned it's eventually going to completely crap out and not charge.  Seems to me like an issue with the phone and not the cord, but does anyone have any thoughts on what exactly could be wrong and if it's fixable before it potentially gets worse?

First step is to examine the lightning connector on the bottom of the phone with a bright light and magnifying glass. Look for dirt or pocket lint, and clean it out with a non-metallic tool such as a toothpick or q-tip stick (without the cotton on the end).

Then try a different cable. If your cables are failing prematurely and they are Apple cables treat them a little more kindly. I've got 6 lightning cables and none of them have ever developed a problem. If they are not Apple cables or Made for iPhone certified cables throw them away before they destroy the phone.

If you have an Apple store near by bring it to their genius desk or failing that your service provider.
