Hp 4635 scanner shows busy when it's not

Hp says I may have a twain driver problem ... Scanner does not work. Shows a message "scanner busy". Same whether usb or wireless. Ive uninstalled the hp stuff and reinstalled, done disk verification drills, all to naught. Does any apple person have a solution?
