Stolen phone

My phone was stolen and was turned off. We have Find My Phone for the device, however, it has yet to be turned back on. If I upload info like photos (backup) onto another device, will we still be alerted if original device is turned on by Find My Phone or will this new device replace the original and stop the tracking process if the app?
