For that use? Makes no difference.
If its a question of money there is always the mini mac, but ya it does not matter, personal taste. I will say though I just graduated with a Computer Science Degree, and it would of been nice to have Laptop so I could work on things any were but I was to busy worrying about the latest greatest of PC Desktops. Now that I repair computers for a living my Macbook Pro is attached at the hip in its perfectly pretentious leather bag👿
An iMac would be more appropriately compared to an MacBook Pro, as opposed to a MacBook.
Ya, if you were talking about the "MacBook" then that and an iMac would be very differ since the MacBook has a mobile core processor in it and is basically all battery inside for someone always on the go.
Having more than 1 USB port also comes to mind.
Ya that too lol. And the Type-C it comes with is only speeds up to usb 2.0. Which I mean come on if they are going to C why not show what it can do like, like when the iMac G3 came out with only usb and no ps2 that was a "were not setting for crazy **** no more kind of thing lol"👿
And the Type-C it comes with is only speeds up to usb 2.0.
No, actually it does speed equal to USB 3, 5 Gb/s.
I currently have the MacBook Pro with retina display and it's a solid machine. I have Xcode installed and I'd say the Mac does the job pretty well. However, if you're looking to do Windows later on and the Mac is your only computer, at this point, I'd suggest buying a Windows laptop at the same price with better specs. You can set up an OS X VM on PC and that should suit your needs for Mac.
Don't get me wrong, MacBooks are great machines. I just think if you're planning to program, you should be able to cover both major operating systems equally. You can virtualize on Mac but I'd rather you save the money and buy a PC.
Either one would be fine. Depends on if you want to be stuck at a desk or want to have the freedom to relax on the deck or next to the pool (not too close). Or lie in bed. You got a lot more freedom with a book. When I had a really great DT Mac and my MacBook Pro I spent all my time on the book. And had Windows sideloaded.
Sure you can save some money but then you have a PC when you could have spent the extra and had a Mac.
And you can run Windows on a Mac

No, you can not run OS X on a PC, VM or otherwise.

Wrong again
Really?
Wow. I've been misled. I'll research that now. Thanks for the info!
I was just told you can't run OS X on a Windows machine anyways so my bad. In his case though if he wants to virtualize on Windows (or Boot Camp, whatever he wants) then he's gonna want the extra space. I think the 500 GB HDD would work just fine but if he wants the SSD then he needs to upgrade to at least a 256 GB. I had Virtual Box on my Mac and I partitioned 40 GB. From then on, there was just that mental claustrophobia when I looked at how much space was available and how much of it was taken up by Virtual Box.
