Q: Apple ID

why would my macbook pro ask me to sign into my messages? The computer was signed into those during the last session and I never signed off. thanks again. macbook pro 10.10.5 yosemite, with 53gb of storage left.

    i didn't update recently and the only thing i can think of is that my iCloud is full. is this normal to ask that. i have never been asked before

    I have had to re-sign into Messages for no apparent reason. After I re-signed in all was well

    how about the iCloud sign in request? when i was already signed in under system preferences

    Hi,

     

    Whilst the ID you use in iMessages  may be the same one you use in iCloud the two are not linked.

     

    That is to say iMessages is not part of iCloud.

    In System Preferences > iCloud there is nothing about joining iMessages (or for that matter, iTunes, Game Centre, iBooks, App Store and FaceTime to list some of the more commonly used separate servers).

     

    iMessages are also deleted from the server once they are delivered.

    Even if they were part of iCloud they would not be filling it up.

     

    I don't think Mail, which is part of iCloud, counts towards your Storage limit either.
