My 2011 Macbook Pro windows keep acting up

My trackpad seems to not behave properly, i.e., sometimes mouse gestures don't work.

Recently, when I start the computer, sometimes there are problems with the graphic screen, it looks like a hardware type problem. Later during the day, the windows seem to move to the side. I fix this by using 'killall Dock'

Is this problem hardware related?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Trackpad issues can also be a swollen battery. if it is putting upward pressure on the underside of the trackpad assembly, strange things can happen. You need to check for this immediately because the swelling WILL continue with the potential to permanently damaging expensive bits, and eventually leaking caustic chemicals--that can take out the entire logic board.
