Q: Macbook Pro won't start. Pls help

Hi,

When i turn on my mac ,a white screen with a folder(with a question mark on it) appears.

It flashes on the screen a few times and then the mac shuts itself down.

Does anybody know what this is?

Is this what you are seeing:

If the included directions do not work for you, advise the EXACT model/year of your MBP.

    Ciao.

The odds are that you have a failed HDD or a broken connection to it.

Boot the MBP with the OPTION + CONTROL + R keys.  You should get a display such as this:

Proceed following the directions and you will be connected to the Apple servers.  You should come across a menu such as this:

Select Disk Utility and run Disk Utility>First Aid>Repair.  If the disk cannot be repaired, it will have to be replaced.  If it can, you can reinstall the original OSX that came with your MBP.

This may be a slow process and you will need a solid Internet connection.

    Ciao.
