Can Macbook Air run 4k video?

Ok, So I have the latest Macbook Air with Intel core Processor I5 and 4Gb of RAM. I purchased the new Phantom 4 drone and have 4k footage and imported it into Final Cut Pro X and it is extremely laggy and says "Frame Rates are Dropping". Was wondering if i need a laptop with more RAM or better processor or if I am doing something wrong and the MB Air is capable of handling 4k video in an editing software. Please help

Hi.

Something that worked well for me - and even allows me to work from libraries stored on external hard drives!

PROXY MEDIA:

When importing media to FCP, check the box that says "create proxy media". After that, click on "View" at the top RH side of your preview window in FCP and set the preview to: "Media>Proxy".

You'll find that you can't view any previously imported clips that have not been imported in proxy format. This can be fixed by selecting the clips in the library or timeline (you can select several at once), then pressing CTRL+click, and selecting "transcode media". You will see an option to click on the Proxy check box again. Keep an eye on the background progress and small percentage window to monitor tasks completed. Expand to see individual clip completion.

Once this is active, you will find that the preview runs much more smoothly - making editing a lot less hassle!!

Not an expert, just my experience.
