AAC gives better quality results at the same kHz and with a smaller file size, than equivalent MP3 files.

AAC is a lossy compression standard, so converting from anything will result in a slight degradation. In reality, I doubt the difference will be noticible. If you start with a high-quality source (such as a CD), however, you'll get much better quality with the AAC format.

even though my mp3 comes from downloded sites? i didn't bought my music from itunes, all of my music was downloaded.

*edited: i've figured it out, correct me if im wrong, itunes match will match your existing songs and convert it to 256k on icloud and play it as 256k and the original files don't change. so you can only use the itunes match when connected to wifi and when you are offline it will play the exisiting songs.

Al-kashrie,

Not exactly. While you are subscribed to iTunes match, you can delete the original version and download the matched copy to your computer.

Then if your Match subscription ends, you will still have the AAC/256 copy.
