Q: Vertical blue and grey lines at start up then goes to a blank white screen

i I restarted my computer because it was frozen then when I restarted there were vertical lines grey and blue. I typed in my password and it took an exceptionally long time to load. When it finally did a blank white screen came up. Please help.

MacBook Pro (17-inch Early 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
