Q: Watch doesn't open apple pay consistently.
When I put my watch on, I enter my passcode. From then on it's supposed to be ready to do Apple Pay when I press the side bar twice. That seems to work fine until I really need it to work, like at the register, then invariably when I press the side bar twice I get my friends selector instead of apple pay and you're screwed. Nothing I do from that point gets it to show up and I have to go to my phone. Of course my phone shows Apple Pay every time I pull it out of my pocket, except when I'm at the register needing it. Then it won't show up either and I wind up using plastic. Very embarrassing for me and doesn't look good for Apple Pay either. I hope this will be fixed with the other improvements coming this fall 2016.

Hi Steve
Try double-pressing the side button more quickly.
For comparison / guidance purposes: in order to activate Apple Pay via the side button on Apple Watch, the double-click needs to be significantly quicker than the slower speeds at which a double-press on the iPhone's Home button causes previews of open apps to be displayed.
To familiarise yourself with the required speed, you can practice launching this screen on your watch at any time. To exit back to the Home screen from either the Friends screen or Apple Pay screen, press the Digital Crown once.
