    If you are experiencing a kernel panic, then the above is not much use. We need to see the panic log: Mac OS X- How to log a kernel panic. You should visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics. Also, see How to fix kernel panics after installing OS X updates | MacIssues and OS X- About kernel panics.

    Your diagnostic information suggests the panics may be related to using FireFox. Try booting into Safe Mode. If you don't have any panics, then start combing through your third-party applications or installed add-ons for the problem.

    Please post a couple of the kernel panics as replies to this thread

    Kernel Panic reports: "/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports"

    <http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2546>

    <http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200553>

    The panic report should have "panic" in the file name.

    And generally kernel panics often come from 3rd party kernel extensions.  See your EtreCheck report for a list of those extensions.

    Next in line is 3rd party RAM.

    Much lower, and it has not really happened recently, but sometimes broken USB devices, and/or broken USB cables, including wired mice, wired keyboards, USB hubs, USB disks, USB other.

    Low down on the list is hardware

    You kernel panic reports might give us a better clue.

    Thanks for the quick replies, I have a Segate ext hard drive for my time machine but now can't access it through recovery mode. I will try and boot up with the hdd unplugged and find some kernal panic reports. Thanks again. Here are 2 reports was able to boot into safe mode to find these.  Seems to be fine with my ext HDD unplugged.

    The panic is related to the external USB disk or some other USB peripheral. You state the external disk is not working, so I suggest removing it and see if the panics go away.

    Nice, that has my back ups on it. Thank you for helping me looks like it's time for a new external HDD. Thanks again for the help.

    It would be good to verify it is the USB device before you spend extra money.  Just unplug the USB device and see if the panics go away.

    But I do agree with theratter   theratter, that is would appear to be USB device related based on the 2 panic reports you have posted.  Especially since the panics do not show any 3rd party kernel extensions loaded, and I am fairly sure your Mac cannot have its RAM upgraded.

    Well I removed the ext drive and tried it in my wife's chrome book and it worked and could access all folders and files. Then I inserted it back in my macbook but in the other usb port and it worked  accessed files and did a back up.

    So I guess my usb port which is on right side of laptop must be toast? I'm afraid to plug anything into it for fear of crashing again. I only have 2 usb on machine now only 1, sad day.

    Any advice?

    A marginal USB cable could change behavior as it is moved around.  It could just be a combination of "That" USB port, and that cable and that disk that is causing problems.

    I would suggest making a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store and have them check out your system, focusing on the USB port you suspect.  Make a complete backup before you take your Mac in for evaluation.  It may be necessary to leave your Mac overnight.  This should all be free from the Apple Genius Bar.  Of course if they find something to repair and if you authorize it, that would cost (unless you have Apple Care on this system).

    If the USB port is broken, but you do not want to pay for repair, you can get a USB hub that you plug into the good port and then have multiple devices attached to the hub.  This would share the single USB bandwidth, but it would allow attaching multiple concurrent USB devices.

    You could get a Thunderbolt dock which will give you several USB ports, as well as several other ports.  Because Thunderbolt has a lot more bandwidth than a USB port, any concurrently accessed USB devices will not be slowed down by sharing a single USB port via a USB hub.
