Q: SMC firmware overwritten on Xos upgrade

Do any one experience that once you upgraded to a newest version of XOS? In my case I have a 2013 late model I mac that once I upgraded to Yosemite and El Capitan my fan noise is loud and non stop. I try to do the SMC reset as suggested but it does not works... I been told that the upgrades have overwritten the Firmware, I try to upload from the apple updates list and nothing helps is there any one that know a solution or we have to wait for Apple to address the problem?

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Unlikely. Firmware upgrades tend to be done as separate operations, as you often have to do some special tasks to complete a firmware upgrade.

It is more likely you have 3rd party software installed that is not playing nice wtih El Capitan and it is running "Wild" consuming CPU, Disk and Network bandwidth all of which draws more power, which results in heat, which means the fans start running to get rid of that excess heat.

Check your Applications -> Utilities -> Console logs for new entries occurring very frequently, especially something that indicates a process is starting, dying, starting, dying, starting, dying, ... very quickly. This kind of activity will be difficult to detect by other means, but it can consume a lot of system resources.

Run Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Montior and look for processes consuming lots of CPU, lots of Disk I/O, lots of Network I/O, and has a high energy consumption number. You should Select Activity Montitor -> View -> All Processes to make sure you are looking at all the processes on your system.

Some OS X upgrades may also upgrade firmware, but that isn't likely the cause of your problem. If you upgraded to El Capitan, then there is no such problem with which to deal. Instead, you might look at:
