Jul 11, 2016 6:25 AM in response to GregoryRWby Leopardus,★HelpfulAt http://roaringapps.com/apps?platform=osx you can view the compatibility of Software with the version of OS X. According to their listings, Final Cut Pro 7 and Final Cut Pro X will run on El Capitan, which is the latest official version of OS X. The latest MBP runs the latest software.
Your answer is yes.

Jul 11, 2016 6:24 AM in response to Leopardusby GregoryRW,Thanks for responding Leo.
I am currently using a 2009 Macbook pro and I am running El Capitan so that part isn't an issue. My concern is FCP7 is 32 bit so does the latest computers run 32 bit programs as they may only be 64 bit? I can run this computer in 32 or 64 bit and have no problems -- I am actually running it in 64 bit and it is supporting it ok.
So I guess the answer is yes but I would like to know from someone who is actually running a latest system to really know - just running the operating system doesn't necessarily mean that it will run on a later machine. But thinking on it, if this computer is running a 64 bit program and runs it, I guess it will run - but that might be just these earlier machines that run 32 and 64 bit. Shame to spend $5,000 and nothing works!
Thanks again.

Jul 11, 2016 10:33 AM in response to GregoryRWby alex7375,I have final cut pro X ( version 10 ) running on my mid-2012 13-inch MBP non-retina , model MD101LL/A.
And it runs great. However I upgraded my memory to 16gb. and upgraded the hard-drive with a 500gb. SSD.
$200 total costs of upgrades.
Here are the specs the this MBP
You can still buy these budget MBP from Apple for $1099

Jul 11, 2016 4:03 PM in response to alex7375by GregoryRW,Thanks Alex. All the current systems support FCPX. I want to ensure that FCP7 works. FCPX supports one project. I shoot things like Eisteddfods and each three hour performance is cut up into 50 separate performances which I offload into 50 other sequences and they are all in front of me. I do that for three performances per day for 18 days. As yet I am not sure how FCPX is going to carve that up for me easily.
Cheers
